چکیده
Summary Background & aims Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) administered to malnourished elders and other patients contain high-levels of carbohydrates that could be a potential risk factor for dental caries. This study aimed evaluate the cariogenic potentials ONS using intraoral plaque telemetry. Methods Ten were tested on five healthy volunteers (mean age: 76.8 ± 9.15 years). Participants requested refrain from performing oral hygiene 3–7 days prior testing. The pH-value below tooth was measured while being consumed. After neutralizing participant's saliva, control solution (10% sucrose) telemetry measurements repeated. Mean relative cariogenicity (RC) calculated each ONS. ANOVA post hoc tests used statistical analyses (p Results All ten potentially enamel with an overall RC 0.519 ± 0.35 (Range: Min = 0.31 ± 0.16; Max = 1.00 ± 0.34). differed significantly between (p = 0.002). lower in contained high-protein (p = 0.018). not influenced by factors such as readily consumable (p = 0.102), flavor (p = 0.869), consistency (p = 0.126), fiber containing (p = 0.134), style (p = 0.112), age (p = 0.339). Conclusions are cariogenic. It is imperative administration must based individual needs potentiate maximum benefit. Wherever possible, attempt limit use high-carbohydrate practiced along adoption suitable preventive measures arrest development progression

Micro Miniature Intraoral Telemetry System
Intraoral telemetry is often-the only method of evaluating dental problems involving environmentally dependent relationships between occlusion, jaw movements, and the neuromuscular system, and between pH, Eh and bacterial ecology. To study these dental problems a small transmitter (the size of a molar tooth crown) with low power requirements and capable of monitoring eight physiologic parameter...

METHODS NEPRO HP was provided to 77 CKD patients on maintenance haemodialysis (MHD) over 3 months. Efficacy parameters were improvement in albumin levels, weight and haemoglobin levels; safety parameters were serum potassium and phosph...
متن کاملRelationship between Cariogenic Bacteria and pH of Dental Plaque at Margin of Fixed Prostheses
Objective. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether teeth that have undergone prosthetic restoration are under conditions that promote caries recurrence. Methods. The subjects were 20 dentate adults with both a healthy tooth and an affected tooth entirely covered with a complete cast crown in the molar regions of the same arch. The pH was measured in plaque adhering to the margin of...
متن کاملAssessment of Plaque pH after Oral Rinsing with Four Customary Used Types of Complementary Infant Formula
Background: Complementary infant formulas are the second most important sources of nutrition for neonates after breast milk. Considering the cariogenic potential of infant formulas, selection of these nutritive sources should be safe to reduce the risk of baby bottle syndrome in newborns. The present study aimed to estimate the plaque pH changes after rinsing with four customary used types of c...

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum D-E7 was studied to determine the impact of nutritional supplements and monosaccharides on growth, oxalate accumulation, and culture pH in broth media (initial pH c. 5). Cultures with 0.1% nutritional supplement (tryptone, yeast extract, or soytone) yielded minimal growth, 2-3 mM oxalate, and a final culture pH of 4.2-4.8. In contrast, cultures with 0.1% nutritional sup...
